FAQ's
Our style could be described as a blend of documentary, lifestyle, and organic portraits. What that means is we love to document all of those fleeting moments that happen through out your wedding day, moments that you might never have noticed. We also love to spend some time creating artistic portraits that reflect your personality. We tread a delicate balance of knowing when to hang back and capturing images as it unfolds or when to step in and create something magical.
What is your style?
How many weddings have you shot,
how many do you do in a year?
We've been in business for over fifteen years and photographed around 700 weddings. Since each wedding is unique and in order to keep a personal relationship with our couples, we like to photograph around 30 weddings in a year.
How far in advance should
we book you for our wedding?
Dates fill in quickly so you should plan to book about 12 - 18 months in advance. If you are planning sooner, please contact us to check availability!
Photography is a creative and organic process, but we absolutely want to make sure that we take the photos that are important to you! We send out a questionnaire a couple months before the big day. This lets us know about timing, family members and all the details. We are always open to special requests and ideas!
Do you work from a shot list?
Image files - how many, format,
editing, timeframe, usage?
It's important to us that you have full access and use of your images. Turnaround is approximately 8 weeks after your wedding and you have full printing rights. On an average eight hour day, we deliver around 1000 images. All images are high resolution and fully edited for color and contrast. Our editing style embraces the timeless look of film - we prefer to use techniques with camera settings and lighting instead of applying artificial filters afterwards. In order to stay true to our style, we don't retouch or release unedited images. We photograph weddings using digital cameras, but we love the look film photography if that's your vision.
Yes, we have insurance and can provide your venue with a copy. We bring backup equipment in case something breaks 'cause we're gearheads. We bring along unobtrusive lighting, but love working with natural light. In over 700 weddings, we have never missed a one. We do have a team of awesome photographers in case one of us ever needs a back up.
Insurance, equipment, what if's?
We approach each wedding as a unique experience. After chatting with you about your preferences, we can customize a game plan. (And don't worry if that plan goes off rail a little - we got you covered). It's great to have about an hour of wedding party prep photos. That's the time that we like to be a fly on the wall and capture the action of you getting ready, lots of details, and the folks around you. If a first look is in your plans, we'd scout out a pretty spot and document that sweet moment. If down the aisle is more your thing, that's cool too. During the ceremony and reception, we are pretty much in documentary mode - covering all the important angles without being obtrusive. While working with families and the wedding party, we like to keep things fun in order to capture real expressions. The best shots happen when you don't even notice us!
